Labour May Just Owe Tizard An Apology
Labour's Kim Kardashian is turning into a Glue pony.
The publicity machine has been cranked up yet again around Labour's Kim Kardashian. Apparently she slashed Nikki Kaye's majority and performed brilliantly in Auckland Central. So much so that she's been touted already as front-bench material in a Labour reshuffle.
But really, did she do so well on Saturday?? Let me debunk yet another myth about Labour's prize trophy girl.
Based on election night results we can already compare how their rising star performed compared with Judith Tizard, a woman whom Labour threw to the hounds by talking her out of returning on the list and relegating her with derogatory remarks.
In 2008 the vote count with a 1,497 majority in favour of Nikki Kaye was as follows
Kaye 14,677 or 42.91%
Tizard 13,180 or 38.53%
Roche 4,592 or 13.43%
And list vote
National 14,112 or 40.08%
Labour 12,166 or 34.55%
Greens 5,446 or 15.47%
In 2011 the vote count on election night with a 535 majority was:
Kaye 12,358 or 45.17%
Ardern 11,823 or 43.21%
Roche 2,188 or 8%
And list vote
National 11,754 or 42.96%
Labour 7,125 or 26.04%
Greens 6,024 or 22.02%
Nikki Kaye actually increased her percentage share of the electorate vote in Auckland Central despite the Green's Denise Roche pleading on television and all over the electorate in an MMP dirty deal for their supporters to vote for Ardern in 2011. And Ardern herself sending this out stating that there are "only two candidates in Auckland Central asking for your electorate vote". Kaye also increased National's share of the list vote. Whereas Ardern barely scratched to match Labour's total percentage.
In 2008 the Greens didn't openly assist at all and Tizard was allegedly deserted by her own supporters but with specials to count, Tizard is outpolling on raw numbers against Ardern 13,180 to 11,823. Even if on specials Ardern passes this mark it is quite clear the vote swapping that was orchestrated in the Labour-Greens dirty deal. Kaye has kicked her arse all over the electorate.
Of more importance, Ardern, in an effort to win the seat for herself by co-operation with the Greens oversaw a disastrous plummet in Labour list vote from Tizard's 12,166 (34.55%) to Ardern's 7,125 (26.04%). Such tactics nationwide of candidate over party largely attributed to Labour not picking up extra MP's and pressuring the National lead.
Labour therefore owe Judith Tizard a huge apology.
If their own rising star in Ardern with a hand of the Greens cannot beat Tizard's last performance in 2008 it tells you that the only difference between the two Labour ladies is good publicity and a hell of a lot of window dressing from adoring colleagues and party hacks.
Under closer analysis I can conclude once again that Labour's Kim Kardashian is underperforming, over-rated and being pumped as the future of the Labour Party when in fact she's just very average and no Helen Clark that's for sure.
She's not even a Judy T on this racing form.
Ardern's best hope is to secure Phil Goff's seat nomination in Mt Roskill or even go bludge Rongotai off soon departing Deputy Leader Annette King.
Or in a miraculous turnaround on the special votes.
Doing worse than Judith Tizard in a seat is not career enhancing.

Cactus, the only representative of the ACT party in parliament is John Banks. John Banks! The same Banksy who entertained my granny weekday mornings on Radio Pacific relentlessly plugging bio mag pillows or bee venom remedies.
Hows that for hubris!
What's ur beef with adern?
In 2008, Labour's party vote in Auckland Central reasonably closely mirrored its party vote over the whole country (~1% differential). Judith Tizard outperformed Labour by 12%.
In 2011, Labour's Party vote in Auckland Central again reasonably closely mirrored it party vote over the whole country (~1% differential). Jacinda Ardern outperformed Labour by 59%.
Labour activists are talking about the show pony as a potential deputy leader. Fucking kidding? She got everything handed to her on a plate in Auckland Central, didn't even have a selection contest, and got everything given to her, including all the green voters, and she STILL LOST. Labour will never get a chance to get back into power as long as their attitude is to reward failure.
Labour's KK also needs a nose job.
too lame to post the comment I am sure, shouldn't expect anything more from a coward like you!
I don't expect you to allow this post, but it's to be expected.
But this is the worst piece of pseudo-science I've ever seen.
Using the same information, the case that can made that given the reduction in turnout, Ardern outperformed Kaye. Kaye maintained about 84% of the vote from 2008, while Ardern maintained 92%.
Of course, this really means nothing, as does your analysis.
And can I just add - How can a member of the ACT party criticize the "dirty deals"? These so called dirty deals are the only reason ACT are still with us.
Probably I have a cheek appearing on this website as nobody dislikes Act and Banks more.
In Auckland Central I voted Niki Kay, Legalise Cannabis ( I don't smoke or toke- but it was the only honourable vote-because I dislike all the parties, and after two minutes hanging over the ballot, concluded the Nat's didn't deserve a clear majority), supplementary member and change.
Kay has been a good local member, reasonably liberal and I like her more modest tram sceme. I think Len and Rudmans rail schemes too extravagant and I oppose the Mangare and Manakau rail extensions for the same reason Melissa Lee opposed Clark's motorway. Auckland needs a Mayor Daley not labrador,s like Brown and Banks.
Jacinda is undoubtedly competent, but her propoganda is meaninglesss, bland and safe. Clark at 31 was also surprisingly good looking and I considered her defence and nuclear policies much more dangerous and challenging in l981 than most of the electorate. Nevertheless she was exciting and I can remember reading her maiden speech in l983 on a day visit to the Otago University Library and thinking the ice and clarity marked a future PM. I think the same about Shane Jones but would give Cunliffe a go for a couple of years in opposition. I met Judith Tizard at a political meeting twenty years ago , she staggered me by her hauteur, arrogance and laziness.
You are going to feel a bit silly if she does win the specials arent you?
When Helen Clark became an MP it was for winning Mount Albert (a safe Labour seat at the time, off a retiring labour MP) - similar to if Ardern was to challenge for Mount Albert if Phil Goff leaves.
Jacinda came very close to beating the incumbent MP in Auckland Central - a challenge Helen didn't even have to face.
Interestingly, Helen Clark first tried to win the Auckland Central nomination in 1974, but lost to Richard Prebble.
Why all the hating on Jacinda in this blog? Helen got an easy route into parliament and proved herself once she got there. Jacinda is doing a fine job also, and it would be nice to see a little less obvious bias from you.
Daniel Lucas - "dirty deals" was first brought up by Labour in accusations over Epsom when all the time they had their own.
6.48pm - not at all. Given Denise Roche blew the seat and told Green supporters to vote for Ardern she should win the seat. Do you not see the math?
11.35pm/David - why is it when I write posts about any other MP I don't get the accusation about "what's your beef"? I have explained precisely here that she is over-rated and Kaye thrashed her despite Roche and the Greens dirty deal.
All this wa wa over one MP makes me think that her fan boy and girl club are working overtime to protect their little over-rated precious.
GE - not quite getting the argument are you?
Jacinda Ardern could eat an apple through a tennis racquet. Those large gnashers mean business. At least they are nice and white though. Speaking of teeth... Helen Clark's fangs. She had a mouth like a condemned shithouse, although her billboards made her look like Ryan Seacrest's pearly whites had been photoshopped on.
This is what right-wing thugs do after a left-wing party does okay in an election:

Senior constable Terry Hunt said,
"It doesn't seem to be political, nothing has gone missing in the way of computer hard-drives or the addresses of party members. They might not even be aware that it was a party building. Why they had to tip everything out I have no idea."
Anon 9:38pm... don't be a wally. The Greens and Police have both said it wasn't a political attack.
And it's Nelson, Green friendly city. Blindingly obvious to all apart from the stupid few... like you.
Anon@5.47 - Still right-wing thugs, just a bit thick.
