I just can't take it anymore. What barrel did ACT scrape to find this mad woman?

If ACT wish to be sidetracked by piss poor issues like this then go ahead but the lack of discipline shown to make this stupid comment was appalling. Calvert wasn't misquoted, it was a direct stupid comment. Why bother making an issue out of battery farming, the Greens own cuddling of animals? No Party does it better.
It is one thing to eat dead animals, it is another thing to disrespect animals while they are living and make their lives as miserable as hell.
People over animals? People make choices, animals don't have that luxury.
Calvert should ask her new colleague Patron Saint of the SPCA, John Banks what his views are on the mistreatment of animals. While she's at it she should perhaps have informed her new Leader about the eyes on the brothel.
I personally cannot wait to rank my ACT Party list candidates. Calvert will not be on my list at all. Another piss poor quality female candidate #fail.
Little wonder we have to revert to grumpy old men. All the women seem to do is commit fraud, shag men who were helping them, endlessly plot coups and make David Garrett look like a potential career diplomat.
At least the grumpy old men like chickens.

Battery hens are a necessity because they offer a cheaper protein source for the poor. Who are we to deny people of lesser means a choice as to whether eggs and the benevolence that eggs offer in their various derivative forms, all on the basis of our perceived horror at the chooks' housing? People are forever arguing that we need to eat better quality food, and an Egg is almost the perfect food source. If people ate an egg or 2 for breakfast instead of the sugar-laden crap that gets passed off as breakfast cereals we would have far fewer diabetics and obese people in NZ.
I'm glad that you can afford to choose eggs farmed the way you feel happy about, but please don't deny those who are paid a fraction of your income the choice of a diet inclusive of poultry products because you are little squeamish about more efficient farming of the chooks.

I won't be voting act, specifically because of her.
To say that the obscenity of battery farming is to help the poor is absurd. There is very little extra cost per egg for free range eggs. If the poor really cared about good nutrition and its cost they would use some of their abundant spare time to grow their own vegetables and run some hens for the eggs. If they don't have the space, look at forming a small collective. Anything rather than whine at the cost of healthy food while stuffing their supermarket trolleys with cigarettes, beer, crisps, biscuits and fizzy drinks.
I killed 4 young cockerels a couple weeks ago cos they were buggering the laying hens and stopping egg production.
I only meant to separate their necks from their bodies by a method i'd learnt but ended up ripping a few of their heads right off.
My daughter doesn't like the taste of free range chicken. Reckons it doesn't taste like real chicken.
