Hubbard Charged By Christmas?

Or do the SFO need more time as well?

These regulatory authorities have a real issue with keeping to time limits. Not only was the Securities Commission meant to have decided whether to charge Mark Hotchin by Christmas the SFO was meant to have worked out whether to charge Hubbard.

Adam Feeley big noted he would have worked out by Christmas as to charge Old Man Hubbard. He's got one more day. Either put up or shut up. Decide whether Hubbard ran the largest Ponzi scheme in New Zealand since the invention of the Welfare State or SCF was yet another victim of simply poor decisions involving property. There is a third option of course, Hubbard was incompetent and not fraudulent.

The Nations financial journos all appear to be on holiday without their laptops. Fortunately Bernard Hickey is still at work and I am poolside in a third world country with first world wireless connected to my iPad, awaiting Feeley's announcement to be made by tomorrow.

He's already given Hubbard's lawyers until the new year to pull a wabbit out of the hat....

There was a media release a few weeks ago (can't find it now) saying there wouldn't be an announcement until the New Year.

You should either read the relevant public statements properly and completely, or stop making stupid and uninformed statements like this. It has been publicly stated by Russell McVeagh that THEY requested the opportunity to make more submissions to the SFO and could not do this before January; that they received the requested extension; and the SFO has delayed its decision. There has been a separate public statement by the statutory managers that if Hubbard is charged appropriate arrangements can be made for his representation. Finally, Hubbard has said through Russell McVeagh that he will not be making any more public statements on the matter. Mr Feeley, who with a very small team is working across over 30 frauds and thefts, won;t take any notice of your uninformed remarks. Neither should anyone else.

Dear SFO Staffer

Your Boss said a decision would be made before Xmas whether to charge Hubbard. Yes I've read all the statements but why can't the SFO make a decision on whether to lay charges?

I've dealt with a wide range of international criminal agencies on behalf of clients, and even the NZ SFO. None knock on the door and give lawyers the chance to explain before they press charges. You get that chance in Court.

If the SFO have a case and it is that strong, they should just press specific charges. If they don't they should apologise to Hubbard for ageing him another decade and move on with their other cases.

I thought you posted that there was no real purpose for the iPad. Glad to see you've been converted.

What I liked was the last comment about a third world country with first world IT. Which world you are in is measured in lots of ways. Third world is often a label imposed by the sanctimonious debt ridden first world heading downhill. Be sure to smile as NZ goes past. You will hear an awful sound as we do - its the sound of people beating their kids to death and barking like animals while being paid to do so by those who think such actions are beyond understanding.

Merry Christmas CK.
