Simon Says......Not Much

Simon Bridges, easily the best looking man in Parliament, just matches all the cliches about the negative correlation between looks and brains and delivers here the most terribly dull, patronising, over-written maiden speech one could ever give as a Tory. All about him, nothing about what he's going to actually do in his time in Parliament.

Yes, you are part-Maori, yes you believe in education and you went to Auckland University, Oxford where you met your wife and were stationed as a Crown Prosecutor in little old Tauranga.

So friggin' what?

Quoting Martin Luther King? Oh dear. Tony Blair? Oh Jeeeesus.

"Not a monotonous garden"

"The diversity of the blooms enriches the view"

Respects Winston Peters? Why did you even mention Peters? Give us a wet blanket to throw over the flames you are lighting for the meaningless one-line flatulence emanating from your mouth.

Didn't even mention magic words such as tax cuts, GDP growth, productivity or reliance on welfare.

Didn't even from memory thank his hard working electorate committee and supporters who put him there.

"Tauranga is a place of singular loveliness"," jewel in the crown that is our nation".

So what are you about? What are you going to do?

What do you actually believe in other than just being in Parliament and thinking Winston was a good bloke?

Yes, I must say I blanched at the 'jewel in the crown' and wondered about the eulogy to Winston. Maybe he meant Winston McCarthy?

Well about time someone other than I thought about this fellow. I have to say I was asking the locals to be a bit critical about the guy but oh no they wanted rid of the other evil so bad(and I agree with that) that there was simply no scrutiny of Bridges. They were even arrogant enough to suggest that he would be Attorney General in no time.
Like Peters he was moved here to be out into this seat. No experience at anything except being a Police prosecutor. Great lot of life experience. Some even thought that was just what was required. He will have his work cut out holding the seat next time for our Mayor Crosby, who is a local born and bred is apparently going to retire at the next local body elections and will take up the Labour candidature. He is quite a popular person though a bloody socialist with socialist spending tendencies but he may well win the seat.
National have stuffed this one. They should have encouraged Clarkson to sit the next 3 years. They actually need his input into building. Heatley is totally hopeless, might be the first minister to go for non performance I'd say.
