Americus

EVERYTHING about this girl I find disturbing. Starting from her name, moving on to the stupid fake grin and then on to the fact she's 6 years old and seems to spend more time with a hoop around her waist than in school books.
I am glad NOC (Niece of Cactus) is not brought up this way. The mere hint of this I would be making an intervention. NOC smiles when she is happy, has a permanent frown line when she's not. And could possibly snap Americus in half in one tackle.

Wow that is scary, the poor girl must have no normal life and be under an incredible amount of pressure. Not to mention that circuses are just plain weird.
You clearly weren't there.
Saw the vid on NZ got talent.
I am glad your daughter worries about the circus elephant. Was she equally as worried though about Circus Americus?

No because it was very apparent from the front row where we were sitting that this little girl was immensely enjoying herself.
It is the school holidays in any case.
She will have to be fully schooled during term time.
There are many children in the entertainment industry. All the main Harry Potter cast have been working full time on those films from the age of 11, and were fully schooled on set by teachers.
Why I almost flipped like the acrobats when I saw her name, it is not for me to judge what parents call their children. There are many odder names than hers.
My youngest daughter (she who we took to the circus) is a skilled trumpet player who has been in public performances since she was 11. My eldest first appeared as a paid actress in television productions at age five.
I don't have an issue with Americus working in the circus.
Me neither, Poneke.
I think her circus family life is a damn site healthier than sitting in a NZ state factory school, being force-fed the latest exercise in socialist ideology.
I loved the kid & I applaud her talent.
Poneke takes himself so seriously. Terribly dull.
Poneke isn't wringing his hands and being judgmental - that's what's dull.
While I loathe celebrity culture & got out in my late teens, I was a child actor & I have some brilliant childhood memories that certainly don't tamper with my life's outlook.
Kids are resilient, many adore performing & they don't need cloistering.
And I mean who would call their daughter Cactus.
Well, they always say don't work the stage with Children or Animals, they always steal the show. Last night SWMBO insisted I see the result of the voting on this show, and to my dismay a (nother) child and a dog were the two choices for spot number two! The child managed to do an imitation of a spastically challenged person having an epileptic fit, while the dog did exactly what it was told, which is what all children and dogs should do anyway in public!
This 'competition' should be banned from the airwaves - it's only redeeming feature is a judge who looked absolutely stunning in every type of dancing costume a few weeks ago as well as in real life!
