Vincent Out
Oh dear. Not a good start to the week hearing Lou Vincent is home with a broken wrist at the hands of a Shane Bond corker in training.
Bond is a menace and the Black Caps batsmen should not be facing him in nets.
Bracewell should hire some locals for $100 a pop and tell them to pad up and stand in front of Bond. Would save more heartbreak like this.
Vincent is to be replaced by Hamish Marshall, whose run of form is similar to New Zealand's run of tax cuts. Miserable.
With 6 more matches against "proper" teams now, it really will be a war of attrition and look for other teams to fall by the wayside with injuries as well.
It may very well be a case of last man standing. Recall a very brave Martin Crowe playing on one leg in that semi-final against Pakistan and sitting in the stand as it capitulated around him in the field.

It's traditional for fast bowlers OUTRAGEOUSLY no-ball at net practise. My most terrifying cricket experience was facing my uni team's quick bowler 'Booger' in the nets - Booger liked to overstep by about ooooh 4 or 5 metres. Not a lot of fun with eyes full of sunscreen. That's all fun and games for a uni team, but couldn't he have taken it easy at the World Cup? Maybe he could bowl at the Australian's nets?
Personally I would have sent Harris or Adams over and given us another bowling option as well....
The only practice NZ Batsmen are going to face good bowlers if they do bat in the nets against Bond.
Some of the other bowlers I am not to certain facing in the nets are a help to get in some good practice before facing other quicks from the remaining nations.
Also I suspect Bond was not a full pace either in the nets and it might of been bad luck or the area they are using for net practice is not particular good or have been overused.

If you have had the pleasure of the Seddon Park indoor nets in the 90's you will understand how easy it is to not only get hit with a beamer, but to deliberately take aim at the bastards who bowl you one. I cracked a few of the quicks on their follow through.

Is Chris Harris still walking without a zimmer frame? I agree with you on Adams however, as he's a West Indian himself, like Styris who seems to enjoy the conditions.
Fortunastely McMillan is in form and in Oram and McCullum we have proven performers.
I would have sent Jamie How - a natural one day opener. Adams is not an option he has proven time and again that he is not an international player.
Fast bowlers in those S Park nets are just bitter they can't do a (Hollywood) long run up. Picking them off on their follow through would have been fun.
